Artist: Lola Dupre And Her Alphabet Buildings

Lola Dupre is a collage artist and an illustrator based in Spain with clients including Penguin Books, TIME Magazine, Nike Basketball, MAXIM Magazine, Die Welt, New Statesman and BURTON.

For her personal project, Dupre utilized to cut, glue, and often duplicate tiny black and white photgraphs of bricks, windows, doors, stairs, chimney... anything that constructs an architecture to build imaginary buildings that shaped like alphabets. They are just all so full of their own stories. I'd love to read some writing that has been inspired by this a B C D series.

According to the artist, a B C D explores the relationships between memory and reading, the phenomena of precognitive interpretation of words and letters. Each pieces are paper collages on wood panel in the size of 21.1x30.3cm, x 4. Below are the images of a B C D. Check out her Behance page for other personal/commissioned projects.

Artist: Monica Ramos And Her Little People

Monica Ramos is an illustrator, born in Manila and living in New York.

I get a sense that each of her illustrations share solitude and togetherness at the same time because what I see in them is little figures minding their own business in a relaxed manner but they are never alone. When you are looking at her illustrations, keep your eyes on the use of colour scheme and patterns. And don't forget to have a good look at what individual characters are doing in the scene, empathizing with tiny characters can be fun. :)

Her clients include: The New York Times, Coach, Lucky Peach, McSweeney’s/Portlandia, Rookie Mag, Oh Comely! Hunter Boots x Urban Outfitters, Rachel Antonoff, Converse, and Good Magazine.

Artist: Foggy Adventures Of Lorenzo Montezemolo

f o g · f i n g e r s | marin county, california by Lorenzo Montezemolo

Lorenzo Montezemolo captures the foggy air in the night sky of San Francisco area. The photograph above was taken only three days ago from today on Mount Tamalpais (a.k.a. Mt. Tam) in Marin Conunty. It was quite surprising to look at such picture at this time of the year because I could only expect a clear sky with the sun spreading its beams during the summer in San Francisco.

According to Montezemolo, "the trips [to the mountains] have been very rewarding socially (I've met many other fog addicts), physically (lots of hiking) and photographically (I now have an even more enormous catalog of fog photos)". It sounds like fun to actually go up there to be productively socialize with people who share the same interest!

Find his works at Flickr and Instagram.

If you're looking for a contemporary way to display your favorite photograph or fine art print without the distraction or additional cost of a frame, then plexi face mounting is a method to consider.

Facemount creates a permanent bond directly between the image and the back of the plexi. Reflection between the image and glazing is eliminated, causing light to reflect differently than it would in a traditionally framed image. Colours are more vibrant and the image appears sharper than ever before, standing out with a near 3D effect. The adhesive Facemount film contains UV stabilizers so the glue won't yellow and colours will remain vivid for years to come.

* Facemounting on 3mm plexi

Tips: How to Prepare Your Vintage Posters Hanging Ready

Summer is over and it is now about time to return to your home, school, and work. During the summer, I was lucky to go to *Fort Langley several times where there are a lot of good cafes, restaurants, but most importantly, antique stores with enormous amount of gorgeous goods from the past.

Fort Langley Community Hall, Wikipedia

*Fort Langley, BC
A village community with a population of 3,400 and forms part of the Township of Langley.
It is the home of Fort Langley National Historic Site,
a former fur trade post of the Hudson's Bay Company. (Wikipedia)

From here to there, I went to a number of antique stores, and I came across the customers standing in line to pay for the posters/prints in their hand. Then I wondered, how would they hang them at home? This article mainly focuses on how to prepare your the vintage posters hanging ready at home or office, however, the options and ideas here can be useful for any other printed materials such as photos and cards.

At CanadaOnCanvas, we offer various services to have your vintage posters presentation-ready: custom made frames, plaque mounting, and dry-mounting and laminating. If you have one of a kind original or vintage poster that is costly and unique, we would recommend custom frame option. We wouldn't recommend plaque mounting and dry-mounting options, because there is a slight chance of the poster getting damaged in the process.

Custom Made Frames

We have a wide selection of custom picture frames for your photos and artworks - more than 500 mouldings in a variety of sizes and styles! The mouldings are categorized by color or style, and pricing is based on width, height and moulding profile. Frame price increases from Group A to Group E.

Wood frames or metal frames
Plexiglass front: Regular, Non-Glare and UV Non-Glare
Backing: white foam board, black foam board, acid free foam board, and cork foam board

Plaque Mounting

Plaque mounting, also known as block mounting, is a modern and durable way to hang your photos without a frame. Your artwork is mounted on a sturdy, high density wood fiber plaque with a bevelled edge, available in a variety of colors. The plaque and images are then permanently sealed with a matte, UV-protected laminate.Your prints will be protected against moisture, UV light, smudges and scratches. The wooden backing is lightweight but durable, perfect for mobile display panels or prints displayed in high-activity areas.

Dry Mounting
Dry mounting a poster or photograph is a technique of attaching prints to mounting surfaces by heating Shellac tissue between the mount and the print in contrast to a spray (or wet) adhesive. Depending on the choice of mounting adhesive, the benefits of mounting may include preserving the graphic from possible wrinkling or tearing, as well as making it easier to handle and display. Please note you have to consider what you are mounting and its size. Mounting, in general, is useful for thinner media (photographs, graphics and fabric).

We offer several different styles of Mounting Boards:
* Foam Boards * Mighty boards * Sintra (Plastic)
* Plywoods * Coroplast * Matboards, Regular and acid-free

Once you decided which poster or print you would like to frame, please mail your poster(s) or printed material(s) to our production center address provided below.

Artist: Nancy Liang and Her Moving Urban and Suburbia Landscapes

I am so thrilled to introduce you something different today. A Sydney-based illustrator, Nancy Liang creates whimsical tales of urban landscapes, city streets and the often forgotten places of suburbia in looping GIF images. They are definitely compulsive viewing. According to her website, Liang represents her subject matters using paper cutouts in the form of a diorama. It is quite interesting to find out that there is either one figure or none in her illustrations for the viewers to engage and empathize with.

*Diorama: a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit.

Make sure to check out her website for more illustrations.

Aritst: Our Wild Abandon, Wherever Forever

The cost of housing has steadily increased all year, every year. The front pages of many newspapers are talking about this for so long now that it does not surprise us anymore. Like many of us, I wish to have one little house or an apartment where I can call home forever. Contrary to our wish, there is a B.C. photography duo did the exactly opposite. They sold everything that they owned to hit the road in a fixed up old trailer more than three years ago still on the road. Thankfully, they are documenting their journey on their website and Instagram so that we can learn "life is wild".
